AML/KYC regulations in Namibia are enforced by a number of regulators including the

Central Bank of Namibia (CBN),
Securities Exchange Commission (SEC),
Namibia The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC)

The primary legislation governing KYC/AML in Namibia is the Prevention and Combating of Terrorist and Proliferation Activities Act,
2014 (Act No. 4 of 2014).

Data protection regulations

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) enforces Namibia’s data protection laws via Article 13 of the Namibian Constitution.

Institutions are required to obtain users’ consent before processing and transferring personal data. Users are entitled to the erasure of their personal data upon request.

Documents we verify in Namibia

Namibian National Identity Card

The national ID card issued by the Department of Civil Registration under MHAI is the primary KYC document in Namibia.

Namibian Voters ID

Voter IDs issued by the Electoral Commission of Namibia(ECN) are required for voting in elections and can also be used as a KYC document.

Namibian Passport

Passports issued by the Department of Immigration Control and Citizenship under MHAI. may not be popular but are an acceptable KYC document.

Namibian Driver’s License

Drivers licenses issued by the Roads Authority Namibia – NaTIS can be used to verify the holder’s identity.
